Valpak white goods provision

Valpak by Reconomy has partnered with the Coventry House Project to provide white goods to young people leaving care to move into their own homes.
The compliance scheme and consultancy will make available starter packs which include a refurbished fridge-freezer, cooker and washing machine.
The items will be purchased at a reduced rate from the GAP Group.
The year-long scheme has already provided 12 young people with the starter packs.
Many young people leaving care are not able to buy items for their properties, including white goods and personalised items, due to financial constraints.
Nazmean Nessa, house project lead for Coventry, said: “Having Valpak gift our House Project care leavers all of their white goods has helped our young people not only financially but also holistically in so many different areas.
“These items make a house into a home. Transitioning into adulthood and independent living is a scary time for our care leavers.
“However, being able to buy homely items makes it their safe space, which supports the young people’s mental health whilst settling into their homes. Young people have been able to create spaces in their homes that they are hugely proud of.”
James Beard, head of voluntary compliance at Valpak, added: “White goods are a costly outlay, especially for young people taking the step of living independently for the first time.
“We hope that this support from Valpak and GAP Group will help to alleviate the financial pressure and enable the young people to spend their money on more exciting aspects of setting up a home!”
In the past, Valpak has provided recycled paints, meals out, hoodies and Christmas gifts to local care-leavers.
The compliance scheme also helped out with the Coventry House Project’s National House Project litter pick and previously attended the Coventry House Project awards.

Celebrating Success at the Frontline Awards
In May, we were proud to attend the Frontline Awards to celebrate Coventry City Council’s Pathways service winning the Multi-Agency Partnership of the Year award. Funded by the Rayne Foundation, the Pathways programme brings together a number of organisations, including NHP, Coram Voice and The Rees Foundation, working closely alongside the Throughcare Service, Coventry House Project and Lifelong Links. Together, the partnership supports young people leaving care to develop skills, build positive relationships, and focus on their emotional health and wellbeing. Three cohorts of young people from Coventry have now go through the Pathways Programme. Seeing the partnership recognised nationally was a fantastic moment and a powerful reflection of the impact collaborative working can have in supporting care-experienced young people.

Aspirational Awards Update
In May, the Aspirational Awards panel awarded just over £15,000 to 19 young people across our LHPs. It was inspiring to see such a wide range of ideas, goals and determination reflected in the applications, and a privilege to support more young people as they take their next steps forward. Funding in Round 9 supported training + graduate employment scheme, equipment for a baking business and support for other businesses, sports sessions, music lessons, lifeguard course, and day trips. We have also recently completed a 3 year review of our Aspirational Awards and the impact they’ve had. Over the past 3 years, we’ve awarded over £147,000 to 138 young people (not including figures from our most recent round in May). Glasgow Kiltwalk 2026
We’re proud to celebrate a fantastic effort at the Glasgow Kiltwalk 2026, where 25 dedicated walkers came together to raise over £3,500 in support of The National House Project and young people across its Local House Projects, making it a memorable day of teamwork, challenge, and impact.
